Harmony is an award-winning charity providing friendly, welcoming and informal support for local adults of all ages who are wanting to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Now in its 10th year, Harmony is a Bridport based mental health and wellbeing charity providing support to hundreds of local people from across West Dorset each year. It offers friendly support, advice and free weekly activities at its welcoming Centre on St Michael’s trading estate as well as crisis mental health advice via the Community Front Room service.

Visitors can try arts and crafts, Pilates and wellbeing activities or join an allotment group or men’s walking group. Equally they can come to the centre for a chat and a coffee; to find out information about mental health and wellbeing services available locally or to talk with one of our peer support workers.

Harmony also runs The Community Front Room, a crisis mental health support service accessible Thursday-Sunday 2.15-9.45pm, for anyone needing immediate one-to-one support from qualified, friendly, non-judgmental staff in a safe space.

All its services are open to anyone 18 and over on a drop-in basis with no referral needed.

Harmony Services

At Harmony we offer two main services of support through Harmony's peer support Drop In groups and The Bridport Community Front Room crisis support.

Entering the CFR feels as if you’re being enfolded within the arms of compassion and acceptance; and, when you leave, hope walks beside you. And the CFR gives us the precious gifts of acceptance and safety which allow us to ‘just be’.
Bridport Community Front Room has saved my life.
Whatever they’re going through, the CRF is there: when I enter the building, I feel as if I’m being enfolded in a warm embrace; the kettle’s always on, and care and compassion emanate from everyone there.
At the CFR I am accepted and valued just as I am in that moment, and I know I can stay for as long as I want or need to, during the lengthy opening hours... There’s no “Sorry, your time is up” at the CFR!

Sometimes, just having a cup of tea with someone is all you need - a chat with people who have 'been there'; or just space to sit quietly, knowing you are safe. But it's there for times of crisis too.

If I could, I’d nominate every member of the CFR Team for an award! I have a long history of multiple and complex mental health diagnoses, the combination of which makes almost every aspect of daily life extremely challenging.
So, when I’m feeling overwhelmed and struggling with my emotions, support from people who know me, who really care, empathise, encourage, and have time for me, is invaluable. And I’m so fortunate to have that support from the members of the Bridport CFR Team. Their endless patience and the care that they show toward me is precious beyond words; they hold the hope for me that things can change, even when my own hope is fading.
Because of them I feel I can carry on.
